Comet hunting!
There’s a comet in the sky! They don’t appear this bright very often, so don’t miss what could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a comet with your own eyes. It’s tough to spot here in suburbia with your eyes, but it’s easy to see with binoculars. Its official name is C/2020 F3 NEOWISE.
Just look to the West, just above the trees, between 9:30 and 10:00 this week. Scan around long enough and you should find it; it’s underneath and a bit to the left of the Big Dipper.
This comet is so large in the sky, that it’s too big to capture in my telescope. But I’ve taken a few snapshots with my Canon T6i camera. The trees are blurry in the first picture because it is a long exposures, tracking the sky. The second photo is just a 30-second single exposure.
